Furniture stripping can be very enjoyable to some who enjoy the restoration process. Buying an antique and finding out what is underneath can be exciting and relaxing. When you strip the top layer of wood you can be amazed at what you find underneath. Sanding and refinishing a bed, desk, table, chair, or couch is a great way at giving it a new look without spending money on a new piece of furniture. Wood finishes are often inexpensive at hardware stores. Stripping furniture for the first time may be hard, so do enough research beforehand so you know that you are doing the steps correctly. The restoration process can take time, and you will have to be patient in order to do it correctly. Paint will need time to dry, and finding a room in your home where dust will not settle on the piece of furniture is important. The removal of polish can easily be done with the right supplies. You can ask friends and family if they have ever needed to remove a finish from a piece of furniture and if so, ask what they did. Others my have hired somebody to do it for them. If this interests you, locate a contractor who is willing to safely restore your piece of furniture. Sanding furniture from a home office may take more time then originally thought. Having a replacement desk or chair may be required throughout the restoration process. Safely refinishing or painting a piece of furniture is also important.
